The Megadrive (also known as Genesis in the USA) was one of the first 16 Bit gameconsoles. Only the TurboGrafx from NEC was a few months earlier(but it basicly was a 8 bit console). During 1992 the megadrive was very succesfull, also because the SUPER NES was delayed.

The sega megadrive also appeared in several portable variants like Nomad, MegaJet and Multi-Mega. Only the Nomad features a built-in screen. Sega used the same hard-case boxes as the sega mastersystem. Perfect to survive the test of time.
