The GameBoy Advance is the successer of the good old gameboy. But much more powerfull. You can compare the system with a portable super nintendo. The GameBoy Advance (shortly GBA) is powered by 2 AA batteries which last between 15-20 hours. There's only one flaw to the system : it doesn't contain a backlite-function. So you need light to get a good view of the screen. It's a pitty Nintendo didn't learned a lesson from NeoGeo Pocket by SNK.
